DiversityOne Open Challenge at UbiComp/ISWC 2025
Exploring Diversity in People’s Everyday Life Behavior with Mobile Data
Date
Location
October 12-13, 2025
Espoo, Finland
The first edition of the open challenge aims to explore the all-new DiversityOne dataset, one of the larger and most geographically diverse datasets for everyday life behavior modeling.
Key dataset statistics:
- intensive longitudinal survey of 4 weeks
- questionnaires about demographic and psychosocial variables from 18K participants
- passive smartphone sensor data from 26 modalities and self-reported annotations from 782 students
- data from eight universities in eight countries from both the Global North and the Global South
The study followed ethical approval procedures in each of the participating institutions and is compliant with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This dataset is a rich, flexible and valuable research resource that can be used to answer research questions in multiple fields:
- Data-centric AI & machine learning
- mobile sensing & behavioral modeling
- computational social science
- cultural diversity in everyday life
- human-centered AI
- data-centric design
- responsible/ethical AI in UbiComp
- …
This challenge offers the opportunity to work on the dataset and gain helpful feedback on your research. A selection of the accepted papers will be invited to submit an extended version to IEEE Pervasive Computing. We welcome contributions from researchers from diverse backgrounds and geographical provenances.
